PHYSIOTHERAPY IN SHEFFIELD

If you are looking for physiotherapy in Sheffield, we are a very hands-on, manual therapy type of clinic so you won’t be paying us to just sit and talk AT you!  You’ll get an assessment and treatment during your appointment. We know that in-clinic treatment is both costly and time consuming so sometimes it’s not the only answer.  This is why we’ll also give you advice on what you can do at home or in the gym to speed up your recovery. We’ll empower you to do the things we can’t whilst you’re not in clinic. We use a rehab software package to email you beneficial strengthening or stretching programmes with links to online videos and a progress tracker to keep tabs on your activity. So if you are looking for physiotherapy in Sheffield we’ll help get you back in your “beast mode” as fast as possible.

Physiotherapy in Sheffield is our primary service and we have a several Senior Physiotherapists to choose from offering you flexibility and choice.
What is Physiotherapy? It is a healthcare profession with a science foundation. “Physiotherapy helps restore movement and function to as near normal as possible when someone is affected by injury, illness or by developmental or other disability”.  Physiotherapists are highly trained professionals and as such, the title is protected. Be sure to check the HCPC register if in doubt here: https://www.hcpc-uk.org/check-the-register/

Physiotherapy may help the following:

  • Spinal Problems – Lower Back and Neck pain including prolapsed/slipped discs, degeneration, arthritis, sciatica, lumbago, chronic stiffness, whiplash and pain referred to arms or legs.
  • Joint Problems – Arthritic conditions, swelling, stiffness and / or pain in shoulders, elbows, wrists, hands, hips, knees, ankles, and TMJ (jaw).
  • Soft Tissue Injuries – damaged muscles, ligaments, (AC L/ MCL) and tendons.
  • Post Surgery – rehabilitation and treatment following, minor or general surgery on the back, hips, knees, ankles, shoulders, elbows and hands. Orthopaedic surgery following joint replacements and arthroscopy.

  • Sports Injuries – soft tissue damage including sprains, strains, and bruising, to muscles ligaments tendons, and cartilage problems.
  • Work Related Injuries – such as repetitive strain injuries, and personal injury.

Vertigo & Headaches – If neuro-musculoskeletal origin.

Your Physiotherapy treatment may involve:

  • Mobilisations – Hands on movement of joints to reduce stiffness and relieve pain.
  • Manipulation – Faster movements, which make the joint ‘click’. Helps restore normal movement.
  • Soft Tissue Massage – to reduce scar tissue, relieve muscle spasm and accelerate the healing process.
  • Electrotherapy – Use of machines such as ultrasound and interferential to relieve pain and enhance the healing process.
  • Acupuncture – fine needles inserted in specific areas to help relieve and settle pain
  • Laser Therapy – widely used for rehabilitation and sports injuries
  • Biomechanical Assessments – top-to-toe screening where we will aim to identify any weaknesses/areas prone to injury and offer advice on how to reduce the injury risk and improve performance.
  • Prevention – Looking at the cause of the injury and developing strategies to prevent recurrence.
  • Exercise Programmes – To do at the clinic or to take home to help strengthen weak muscles, or stretch those which are tight.
  • Taping – to help the body’s natural healing process and provide muscle and joint stability.  IT works by lifting the skin away from the injured area area to help alleviate pain, improve circulation, improve blood circulation and aid lymphatic drainage.

WHAT PATIENTS SAY

“I was playing football at a high standard before I had to have numerous injuries in my knee.  As a result, I started to fall out with the game and finally underwent an ACL reconstruction which required several months of intense physio.  Mark couldn’t have been more helpful putting me with Lee one of his work colleagues who specialises in ACL Rehab to help me strengthen and regain movement in my knee plus recovering my fitness. It was a tough process, but now I am back to playing my football again and most of all enjoying it!  This couldn’t have been achieved without  the hard work, time and guidance Mark and his team gave me – so for that, I really owe them one”.
